I Ate Fish!

HELLO!!!!! What is everyone up to!! i received alot of fun pictures this week!! thank you!!! it looks like everything is greening up around the house and things are going good... its good to see those little kids too!!!! and corey and jen and jaw!!! you guys went to greely? i bet that was a fun trip!!!! and thank you for sending me e. kunzler´s email!! i miss him so much!! he did so much for me!!! i am so sad that he is ending his mission in five weeks!!! he is the best!!!!

wow… so its been a good week!! its kind of been slow because i am setteling into the new area, meeting a lot of new people and working with a new companion!! but everything is good!!!!!!! i am excited because there is alot of things that can be done in this area that we can improve!! it seems that the people that we taught this week were a little hard hearted, but that’s just because we haven’t found the elects yet!!!

i thought i should let you know, i just finished eating some fish!! I GOT THROUGH IT!!!! i still don´t really like it! but i decided if i have to eat it, i can!! but i did it! ha-ha!! this ward here in mondubim is awesome!! everybody has a really strong testimony!!! i really enjoyed sacrament meeting! i think it was one of the most spiritually strong meetings i have sat through here in brasil!! the topic was centered around missionary work! first was a talk from the elder’s quorum president. he is really awesome. just a young returned missionary. he told some stories about growing up and how he found out the church was true! then next was a farewell talk of a young man that is preparing to serve a mission! he was really spiritual! but i will have to say that farewells in brasil are a little bit different! theres not quite as much support like in the states. but it was a really good talk! then the bishop got up and talked. he too is awesome! very young! the leadership of this ward is very young!! i really like the bishop!! he is willing to do anything! but in all three talks they told the ward that they need to be doing all they can to help the missionaries, so it was really awesome! so hopefully now we will be seeing some referrals and stuff. i learned alot of things from elder kunzler that I am trying to put into practice here in this ward!! so that will be great!!

Elder R. Pereira is great! its awesome, we speak Portuguese non stop. so i should start learning a little bit better!!! i hope.... ha-ha! i can´t really tell if i am progressing but hopefully!! its a little bit different working with a Brazilian companion! they definitely have a different culture than we do! but its interesting to see how they live!! ahhh…. it just seems like in everything we do here on a mission we learn. there are always things to improve on!!! its great!!!

this week we taught this lady the plan of salvation!! we laid it all out there for her!! elder R. Pereira is really good with the bible. he practically has it memorized!!! so he was really good at explaining everything! but the thing is, is that this lady has like 23 years in the evangelic religion! but she seemed to accept everything. when we went back to her the next day she had this whole outline of scriptures in the bible that she said proved that our church is not true. it was ridiculous. she had all these scriptures written down like - man can´t see God-- trying to prove that Joseph smith is false prophet. and scriptures saying that the word of God can´t be added onto-- trying to prove that the book of mormon is not true. but easily enough there are other scriptures in the bible that say things contrary to everything that she had to say! and we showed her those scriptures!! we are pretty sure that this lady isn´t very interested! and that she is studing with her pastor to try to prove us wrong! but the good thing is… IT’S IMPOSSIBLE! the next time we go there we are going to say... look we can answer every single one of your questions and if we do, will you accept the gospel of Jesus Christ and be baptized? but if not….. if you are just trying to prove us wrong we can’t teach you anymore! ha-ha! its going to be interesting to see what happens! It’s pretty intense.

the good thing about our message is that it´s so simple. and it should be simple. simple enough that a child can understand. what people have to do is have faith. they have to have faith and ask Heavenly Father in prayer if it´s true and if they ask with faith he will answer. but alot of times peoples hearts aren´t open yet, so they don´t pray and they end up just trying to prove that we are wrong.

pray for us this week that we find the people that are ready! they are out there!!

this church is perfect!! it is true! i know that it is!! i feel so blessed to have the knowledge about it that i do. and that my family can be together forever!!!!!!!!!!! i am so grateful for that! it brings me so much joy! i know that Jesus Christ is our Savior! and that through him we can be clean of our sins and live with our Heavenly Father for eternity. the atonement is real!!!!! Jesus Christ knows everything that we are going through and will take our burdens if we let him!!!!! but we must do our part to!

so just a few questions for you!

How did the soccer team do?
How’s the yard coming?
How are you taking care of it?
Have you heard much from kevin hacking?
