It has been raining all day! i think that the rainy season has arrived. usually when it rains, it rains for like 20 minutes at the most, but today it’s been a good 12 hours! and it is still going! It’s the funniest thing, because everyone here is scared of the rain. when it’s sunny, everyone complains about the heat. then when it rains, no one goes outside. ha-ha! but i love it! It’s nice to see a change in the climate. and with this kind of atmosphere i felt like making that fake snow that you sent me for Christmas. so we got carried away with that. it was really fun! my comp thought that it was real snow and tried to eat it and he couldn’t quit touching it either!!
well this week we didn´t have any baptisms, but we had a few confirmations. jonathan had to travel, so he wasn’t confirmed, but maria and sonia were. and i want to tell you about a miracle that happened in maria´s life that i found out about yesterday!
so yesterday we went to church and a few ladies from the relief society came up to me and said; “wow! maria has a strong testimony of the church. how did you find her? and another said; “wow! we went and visited maria at her house and she bore her testimony and made me cry!” all these comments made me kind of curious. then as church was ending a another lady came up to us and said; “elders, i want to tell you what maria said when we went and visited her this last week." she said "maria told us that she had been searching for the true church. that as she went to her kid´s churches she just didn´t feel right inside. so one day, a couple of weeks ago she started to pray a lot and asked that God would send angles to teach her the truth and to show her the path home to Heavenly Father. she said that soon after her prayers, we showed up and started teaching her. Maria said that as we started to teach her the messages she knew it was the truth and that it was an answer to her prayers. she accepted everything, Joseph Smith, the book of Mormon and baptism!”
with this experience, i am not saying that we are angles and that we are perfect! but with this experience, i testify that this church is true. as maria begged God to send her the truth, he sent us. he didn´t send anybody else, he sent the missionaries of his church. i can´t tell you how awesome it is to know that we are the Lords hands. this really showed me that God really does lead and guide this work. i know it! it almost seems unreal! i know that prayer is powerful! if we pray with faith we will receive. just like maria! i love my mission!! i am learning things and seeing miracles that are changing my life! the things that i am learning are simple! that to put the atonement in our lives we need to be obedient to the commandments and put trust in our Savior! i wish i could write in words how amazing it really is to see these things happen and to know that i helped someone receive an answer to their prayers!
we were able to get people to church yesterday, but i seems like everyone that we take we need to marry. so we’ve got a lot of work to do. we will be marrying two couples on the 21st. so that should be good!
i know that this church is true! i know that the book of Mormon is true and that today we have a living prophet! i know that God loves us. and i love all of you so much! i hope that everything is going good with everyone. keep going! be strong and keep smiling!
