The Miracles Don't Cease!!

happy late easter!!! i hope that this easter was a good one for all! here in brasil, easter is a bit different. they actually celebrate the day of Christ’s death which was friday and have activities all sunday. but one thing that is kind of creepy is that throughout the week the people make scarecrows and the scarecrow is Judas who was the apostle that betrayed Christ.  then on saturday night, they burn him! It’s kind of a disturbing tradition. but it is interesting. I thought that maybe you would like to know.  then on sunday they do some of the same things, like eat chocolate. so i was able to celebrate a little.
this week has been full of action. elder cunha and i have been working hard! we have made some goals that are really pushing us to work hard. this last week we did a few splits with a few elders that weren’t getting along too well. So…. it’s been a bit stressful, but i believe that everything has been settled.
this week we have been preparing cristina and kelvin for baptism. kelvin has been firm the whole time. he has been going to church and keeping all of the commandments on his own. but cristina on the other hand was a bit unsure. when the district leader showed up to do her interview she told me that she didn’t want to get baptized and that she would wait another week. but i talked to her a bit and told her that if she was prepared she needs to be baptized. she told me she was ready. so i told her that in the interview the district leader would help her feel more ready and she would want to get baptized. as she came out of the interview the first thing she said was. "well …. you are going to baptize me!!” it was an awesome feeling to see that she had made the decision.
then yesterday they were both baptized. kelvin was baptized by elder cunha and i baptized cristina. cristina is very excited to learn more. she wants to know about temples and all the blessings that God has for her.
she is dating a guy name helder which is the same pronunciation as our name elder. he hasn´t been too supportive, but he went to church yesterday and we will work hard with him this week.
another young man named graciano also went to church. he is 18 years old. he is very humble and loved the church. so pray for him so that he can be baptized this week.

Love, elder T. Larsen

This is Leo, the little boy that was baptized last week. It looks like he has found a great playmate in Tyler!
