hello all! how is life!! i hope that everything is going good!!!!!! i hope that you all are happy!
well this week we had a huge miracle. we had a baptism. her name is girlane. but let me tell the story. so on tuesday we did a split with the elders that live with us. i went to the other area and my companion stayed in our area. well we went and ate lunch and after lunch we went back home to brush our teeth. but it was soon that we realized that neither of us had the key. my companion had our key and the elder i was with, elder peacock didn’t have his key either. so i thought, lets go wait in the shade until they get back. but then elder peacock said, no lets go to a members house. so we chose a member that lives really close to our house that lives in my area. we entered her house and there were two girls that i had never met. so we introduced ourselves and we learned that one of the girls who is girlane, was that member’s sister. we found out that girlane lives in another city about 1 hour away. when i started talking to her, i felt really strong that we were supposed to teach her. so i asked a few questions. i asked her if she had already gone to church. turns out that she had already gone about 10 times. then i asked her if she had ever been taught and she said that she had but they didn´t have time to baptize her. so i was getting pretty excited. so that day i sent elder gardasz to start teaching her since he was working in our area and yes, she accepted to be baptized. so all week we have taught her and she was truly being prepared by the Lord to be baptized. we found out that where she lives the church doesn’t exist but she said that she always visits her sister here in metropole and she decided to be baptized. we baptized her sunday morning before church and she was confirmed in sacrament meeting. she was really a blessing in our lives. i know that God answers our prayers.
but a really sad thing happened. wenderson gave up. he said that he can’t go to church anymore. he is such a good kid, but everybody around him didn’t support him as he was trying to go to church. his girlfriend hates the church along with her whole family. so this whole time they have been fighting and wenderson said that it wasn’t worth fighting about. so he decided to stop going to church. sometimes the enemy works really hard to keep people from entering into the truth. It’s really sad, but we pray that he will have the desire again to be baptized.
this week we will be working really hard with marcos and simone. marcos was able to go to church this week but simone had to work. they are having a hard time recognizing their answers, but they are feeling something different wtih the church. marcos had a dream about Jesus Christ. he said that when he was dreaming he imagined Jesus coming down to earth and all around him there were angels. then when he walked into the church he saw that painting of the second coming. he said that it was exactly what he had seen in his dream. so we told him that it was an answer. so we will see how it goes with them this week. they are really cool. marcos is 28 and simone is 27. they are brother and sister. but they are super close. they do everything together. the other day they played a song for us and sang to us. it was really good. they sing well and plus marcos talks fluent english. so pray for them!
we are also working with a lady named maria. she wants to get baptized but doesn’t feel ready. i know that the only thing that is holding her back is coffee. so that’s what we will focus on this week.
wednesday and thursday we have meetings with President Souza. so that should be pretty intense. he is definitely cracking the whips. things are quite a bit different around here. but that is always a good thing.
i know that this is the way. i know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. this is His church. we are so blessed to be a part of it. we know of the plan of salvation. we were born to live with God once again. we were born to be happy! i know that God loves us. i know that with the book of Mormon we can come to understand the atonement. i know that i have much to learn, but i am excited to learn it. i know that families are forever and i love you all very much. keep working hard!!! and keep it up! love you!!
Love elder T. Larsen
